Belle - Shopping villages & 3D Projection

I found that the shopping mall which become successful in all aspects usually attracts people by something else other than just a purpose of shopping. For example, a place where it's a duplicate of another culture structure or a built environment of antique buildings. Therefor, this is another kind of language by using ornamentation to bring special moment to many places.

1. The Venetian Resort Hotel, Macao.

Eventhough this place meant to be a major casino, which it only needs a casino room and hotel, but its built outdoor environment of 'Little Venice of Asia" also is a major part to attracts a lot of tourists. Not only people who come for gambling but family with children also enjoy a shopping and lingering through the resort. That makes it the major tourist attraction of the world.
(Referring  to the Successful of 'Asiatique Riverfront' in Bangkok as well, from my point of view.)

When we enter the resort, one could suddenly feel like tripping into a whole different world. A totally built environment contains people at a certain limit, while it let people to wander around anywhere they want. At some point, this space could directs people behavior but at the same time allow people to freely decide on their movement within context.
This is think create a physical animate space.

2. Qianmen Avenue at Tiananmen, Beijing, China.

Qianmen Avenue is create to restore historical evidences of Beijing, the buildings. Parts of it is the real old building, while another parts is totally new built. And we can't really distinguish them.

This place already speak for itself that it is a shopping street in an ancient building with a new and clean environment. It has been transform or repurpose from only historical structure into creatives surrounding that driven shopping by all shopfronts. While we enter this place we also feel like walking toward another world, but space did not fully control people on how to move rather inviting everyone to enjoy shopping and sight-seeing.

3. "Underground" by Elliott + Associaties Architects.

A underground passage have been decorated by different tone and mood. An architect using color and lighting patterns to create various experience when moving through the space. It also turns the place into an enjoyable place to walk.
Psychologically, we only focus on going to our aims or goals, when a space turns into somekind or decorated or directing by form, it can slow people down, draw their attention, and distract their goals.
Different experiences go as a strip, make people curious about what's next and they will be pleasure seeking for it.

A Light Projection That Blurs The Boundary Between Physical And Digital
"NERVOUS STRUCTURE (FIELD)" IS AN ELEGANT, HYPNOTIC TAKE ON AUGMENTED REALITY.
Made in collaboration by Annica Cuppetelli and Cristobal Mendoza,Nervous Structure (Field) is an installation piece designed to confuse and then illuminate the line between the physical and digital. 144 vertical lines are strung and then 144 lines of light are projected on to them. The lines of light respond to the movement of visitors and the result is a hypnotic field of waves and moire patterns.

an installation that need an interaction with people. A projector projects light onto floating surface create an illusion animated space to our eyes.
It similars to a project of Jenn Holzer in “Projections,” with its illuminated lines of poetry, features Jenny Holzer’s first indoor light projection piece in the United States.

Both share similarity in which both of them could recieve by seeing and have interaction with body.
But we couldn't reach the actual objects. It might actually be an objects behind but it will always be just a medium to display this kind of media.

I think of it as a developed idea of Tromp L'oei >>> Innovative Tromp L'oei painting.

At the end....
